if it is a 60/40 rear seat and does not have the straps, then open your trunk, and smack the back of the seats, the straps do not "disengage" anything, merly there to hold on to while you pull the seats down.

if it is a full rear seat, just pull the bottom part of the seat "the on you sit on" off and there should be a couple of bolts holding the back part on. but dont hold me to that info, cause mine are 60/40.

If its a base model like my 96, the seat doesnt fold down, you need to yank the bottom part of the seat out, then there are two torx T50 bolts holding the seatbelts down. take those out and the back part of the seat comes out. I took mine out a little while ago to be able to haul skis inside the car.

But to just get to the speakers, you should be able to get at em from inside the trunk??

to just get to the back speakers you cant get them from the trunk because the screws holding them down are facing downwards and the speakers to big to take out the bottom.
what are the dimensions of the rear speakers?

I think there 6x9's, most size of speakers could be modded into the spot though.

I also have a 95 neon...and actually took the back seats out today. For no real reason, I got bored. but anyway. In order to change the speakers, or a least get to the top of the speaker you have to take the carpet piece out. There should be a plastic thing on each side were the seat belt goes into it. Just pop those off, then kinda pull up on the carpet. It may not come out very smothly,so you kinda have to mess with it a bit. But none the less it will come out. and if you still have the stock speakers in the car, then you may only have to go through the trunk, its much eaiser. but only if you have the stick speakers.
