check for air in the coolant. Take it for a drive to get it up to operating temperature, park it while letting it run, pop the rad cap off and let it circulate. You'll know that was your problem if it starts bubbling or gurgling as though there were air in it. Also, make sure that you're running the proper oil. I know this sounds dumb but heavy oil will make your engine work harder than it has to. 5w30 or 10w30 is good. Make sure you haven't got a cracked cylinder head. Oil will show up in your coolant or vice versa. Also another dumb thing is to make sure that you have the proper mix of coolant and water in your system. I got my car back from some minor fixes and it turns out that they gave my car a "courtesy flush", what they didn't tell me was that they didn't mix any coolant in there and they left the water in there that they used to flush the system.

Could be a bum sensor somewhere in there. When it comes to electrical, I'm all thumbs. Maybe someone else can help you out with some other possible causes.

Default RE: overheating

Never take off the rad cap when it's hot/warm... 2nd degree steam burns suck, speaking from experience... My favorite part was watching the skin blister up, pop, and then fall off in a matter of 15 minutes or so.

Take the rad cap off while the car is cold. Then start the car and allow it to get up to temp. The thermostat will open around 195F if it's the right thermostat. If level drops when the thermostat opens, you have air in your system. Refill (while the car is running) with coolant (I used the premixed stuff). The thermostat will probably shut as soon as you add the relatively cold liquid in there... Keep doing this until level stops dropping or the fans come on (220F or so), then shut off the car and replace the rad cap. Always make sure your overflow tank is between the empty and full marks before and after doing this... I find it better to have the front right of the car up at a slight angle when possible. Usually takes me 3 tries before I'm satisfied that there's no more air in there, and I do it twice a year.

Best of luck!

Well what i did today was purchase some pre mixed coolant at the store
In the parking i poped off my rad and my temp was near running temp
No it was not hot nor did i get burned
I checked the rad before i left and it looked low
thats why i purchased the fluid
so i filled it upo
i did see a bubble hear and there
but after filling it up it did not over heat atleast not for now
