What type of transmission fluid do I use in my 96 neon highliner. I have a box of valvoline max life dexron 3/ mercon. Will this type work?

 

No... You must use ATF +3 or an aftermarket equivilant trans fluid. The same fluid used in Chrysler products since the mid 70's. The late model Neons use a synthetic ATF+4 fluid (not sure of exact year this changed ) which is used in the ATX, MTX, and power steering box according to the owners manual in my '05

 

You need ATF +4.

 

That will shred your tranny USE ATF+3!!!
