i have always want a neon so i fanily bought one it is a plymouth neon its a sohc and a i have seen that there is a mtx and an atx what is that i need some help i want my car to a (redlight to red light race ) as said in the 1st gen. faster talk. i am new to all the 4 clyc. stuff all i know is the v8 car . so any help would be nice thanks

 

MTX= Manual Tranny

ATX= Auto Tranny

To be honest with you buddy if you have an auto you have a long road ahead of you in the speed department. If you have the money I would do a manual conversion because the auto Neon stock is a gutless little piece. Or trade it for a manual. The biggest down side to the auto tranny is that its a 3 speed. The manual 5 speed owns all cars in its class because you can get more power out of every gear. The auto has that same power, but you dont have the abillity to decide how many rpms you want and that is a huge downside. If you have an auto do a tranny swap or dump it and get a manual.

Now however if you do have a manual your all set, you have the perfect tuner. A good place that I would start would be get a CAI, exhaust, and new mounts as a start. After that move on to suspension before you really get into having a fully built motor.

i have a 5speed and it is all stock and what would be the best first upgarde that u can tell that it is there. and where to get themfor cheap price buy good stuff i dont want anything that is cheap and not going to last long

 

Best first mod is CAI. Best place to buy them for cheap is belive it or not Ebay.
