Default differential pin?

what exactly is the differential pin? and how do you know when it broke?
i put 70,000 hard *** miles on my first r/t and have went replaced 4 transmissions(it was my first stick car and i had to teach myself how to drive it) the first trans went out when i was rosting the tires, by the time i finished you couldnt put it in first gear and it kept popping out of second. the second trans went out on my way back from from chrysler at carlisle in pennsylvania. i made it almost to ohio when the car started smoking real bad, by the time i got to a gas station there were four holes the size of quarters in the case andfluid everywhere. (when i got it home 3 days later i took the trans apart and got pictures.WOW) the third one i replaced because i couldnt find a cheap r/t trans so it was out of a sohc 95 neon, and it needed a new clutch, luckily i found an r/t trans at a junk yard in wisconsin for real cheap. then i had to change the motor cuz i was racing a friend of mine with a 2000 grand prix gtp. just as a hit 120 and was passing him the car lost power. when i got it ripped apart, the #1 connecting rod was broken, a nub of the rod was still on the crack and while turning took out chunks of the block, the piston was pushed into the valves, one vave was broken off and laying on the piston, the other three were bent really bad, with the broken valve laying on the piston and the piston moving freely it went down and hit the crank then pushed it into the head and cracked it, the rockers got knocked over and put large grooves in the cams. i think that is it, but atleast i got good pics of the motor.
needless to say my new r/t gets treated alot better, but the first one will beon the road shortly and better then ever.

Default RE: differential pin?

The diferential pin is in the trans. You will know its broke when the car won't go anywhere and the gears are fine. It is located in the spider gears, its part of the trans, but compare it to the rear end of a RWD car. In a FWD car the trans and diferential are all in the same case.
