Its gonna be somewhat difficuly, your gonna need a new center console, shifter cables, and a sifter, and some mechanical know-how I highly advise going and getting a Hanes manaul.

not too long ago i changed a 5-speed to an automatic for my wife...but i am now changing it back for myself...but i kept all the parts.
the center consol is the same in both so you do not need to change that. but here is a list..
you will need to get,
the shifter linkage, the whole shifter setup including the mounting base, clutch cable, clutch pedel assembly, the trans of course, the automatic wiring harness will work...there is a couple plugs that wont be used though(but it wont be a problem, just hang them out of the way), the end of the passenger side half-shaft that goes into the trans is different so you will need one of those, and the drivers side trans mount is different, and the pcm(otherwise the check engine light will be on because it doesnt get a reading from the torque converter clutch), you will need to make sure that the trans has the rear bobble strut...if not then you will need to get one of those(otherwise you will feel alot of movement when you hit the gas), make sure that you get the bracket that holds shifter cables in place on the trans too, they are different between the auto and stick, and there is a plastic bushing that the clutch cable goes through into the firewall, you will need that too...other wise i think that is it, if i remember anything else i will let you know, im goin to my garage in a bit so i will check if there is anything i forgot...it really isnt that hard, i had mine done in a couple days...

this might help me out a lil. im getting ready to do a tranny swap in my car. the auto is alright but , its much funner driving a stick. the clutch cable and the shifter cables are a lil tricky but it will be worth it. to me maybe i bought a wrecked neon with a stick and started transferring parts to mine looks a lil redneckish i have the pedals in. the break pedal works but im a lil worried about the clutch cable and the cv axle and the speedometer tingy (this is my first neon) any one got somepointers??

what exactly is it that you are worried about? let me know
when you do the cv axel you can just switch the whole thing over and it will work fine, you dont just have to do the end.

the only difference is on that passenger side shaft...other wise they are the same size and length...drivers side is the same for both cars and the passenger wont interchange, so just take it with the trans and you will be fine...and remember to get the plastic bushing out of the firewall for the clutch cable...any more worries or questions just put them in here and i will get back to you??
what speedometer thingy?
