Thanks Highline, thats good info im gona look into that tomorrow, might pick up 2 of them, If I do, is cam installation hard to do, I know about the timing belt and having to set them correctly but it is it a hard job? Ive never done cam work before

Im not going to do it alone, I have a friend who has done engine work and he is gona help me, and I have the hanes book So if I can pick 2 up then im good to go, just have to find 2 that are available, in some cases the yard won't even bother with it and just make you buy the engine but, If I was gona buy an engine Id consider a swap seeing how im gona be paying a good chunk anyways, Id go SRT-4 thanks for the advice.
you wont be able to use just two cams out of 95 neons and use them on a dohc...the cams are different sizes for the both being that a sohc has one cam the works the intake and the exhaust...a dohc has one cam for intake and another for exhaust...you will have to get performance cams for a dohc, not 2 sohc's....highline doesnt know whats goin on when installing cams anyways because he didnt put his in...it is the stock one that came with the car... and not all 1995 neons have the good cam, only the ones built in 1994 that are labeled as 1995..hence the 94 built 95 neon...1995 built neons had a regular cam in them....the 1994 had a performance one because their main purpose was to compete in scca racing
thats intresting, Ive done some cam browseing before and the ones I saw for my Dohc where some AEM's, I should just save more money and gets the shafts while im at it to create some extra sexy power. I know if I go with the shafts Im going to grab the crane 12's but what about the cam gears?

True, you can't use SOHC cams in a DOHC head. Just doesn't work that way. The whole pupose of DOHC is to have the intake valve timing controlled by one cam, and the exhaust valve timing controlled by the other cam. With a SOHC, all timing events are controlled by the same cam.
However... ALL 1995 MODEL YEAR SOHC CAMS ARE THE SAME. ALL OF THEM. NO EXCEPTIONS.
My Highline was built in 1994. It was not designed for SCCA racing. You're thinking of the first run of ACR sedans. That's different. The build date of your car is on the information sticker when you open the driver's side door. But don't fret. If the 10th letter of your VIN is "S", and the 8th digit of your VIN is "C", your car is a 1995 model year SOHC and has the better cam (same as the Mopar 4 HP cam). The 1995 Factory Service Manual does not list 2 different cam specs, only one, and only one part number. The 1996 FSM shows the new part number and the different cam specs. In the half dozen or so 1995 SOHC's that I've helped tear apart, every single one has the better cam. In the thousands that have been torn apart on "the other forum", no one has ever reported having the 1996-up version in their 1995 car.
The DOHC's cams did not change profiles for the entire run, from 1995-1999. The cams in the 2.4L DOHC's were a little different, but in the same head, and the cam position sensor is rotated 90 degrees. AEM does not make cams for the Neon, just cam gears, which you will need to use aftermarket cams. Crane and Crower make DOHC cams, and I think that's it. Crane and Comp Cams (aka Zex) make cams for the SOHC, and that's definitely it. I posted all the cam profiles for all the available SOHC cams earlier today if you want to hunt around. I can find (or direct you to ) the DOHC specs if you really really want...
Best of luck!

i think rooster is more appropriate....you just dont need to go and tell this guy that it will work if you dont know....that could be alot of his time and money wasted in trying to do it....not to mention what could happen to the motor in trying to get it to work...there could be a bad outcome for him or the car
