Default New Neon owner

First off i've ran into some bad luck just starting out with this car. I'll start off with the car I bought before this. About a week ago I was in desperate need for a car but due to my stingyness I didn't want to spend much. I bought a 94 Ford Escort Gt from a private owner that was banged up on the passenger side door and fender with 82K miles for $300. I drove the car 4 miles then all of a sudden the motor locks up, got my money back then decided to splurge and buy my 96 SOHC neon with 75K miles for $1200. I was told that the only thing the car needed was MAYBE brakes and tires to pass inspection which it needed. Didn't matter to me I bought new benix brakes and rotors anyway. Changed those, bought a new K7N oil filter and oil for an oil change. Later that day I realize it needs an alternator belt (turns out it just needed tightened). Next day I buy plugs wires and a K&N air filter for a tune up but before I even get home to install the car starts losing power and sputtering REALLY bad. I figure it was a clogged fuel filter or a loose wire. Change the plugs and see that they were sitting in a pool of oil ( needs a valve cover gasket I HOPE!) While working on the car I see a motor mount is bad, theres no filler neck for the washer fluid, a hole in the muffler which I changed anyway, there's vacume lines not hooked up and the ram air hose I was promised is now missing from the guy who sold it to me. Like I said before i'm pretty sure it's the valve cover gasket causing the oil to leak on the plugs causing a miss fire. If it's not that i'm guessing it's the ignition control module. Do you guys still think it's worth $1200 considering the motor was changed and came out of a 98 neon I believe with 60K odd miles ( I saw the car it came out of so I know it had 60K)
