the red topped optima is a bad *** battery, just dont get the yellow...and it will kinda fit.. it has to be kinda wedged in there but not to bad,, makes for a tight fit

Ever seen a optima battery? They are spill proof due to the spiral cell design, hold power better and can withstand alot more vibration than any ordinary battery. I have the 34/78 Red top in my neon, it doesnt fit perfect and you have to keep the stock cover off the top.

So not too bad to install a optima?... How do you secure it if the factory cover isnt used?

I have an optima red top in mine. I just used the strap that came with my iceman battery box.

a battery is a battery ? since when? optima have a stronger cold cranking rating last years longer are spill proof and for sure keep up a lot longer I mean you can say what you want but thats the facts you pay a bit more but get a bit more in most cases the optima battery will outlive the car.

Mine is just sitting in the stock battery box, its almost wedged in so it doesnt move around at all. There is also a bolt with a clamp on it that holds the battery down, I think if you use the one that comes with your optima battery it will hold it down. The cover doesnt really do anything but flow air around the stock battery but seeings these are spiral cell batteries that are spill proof no venting is really needed.
