Default Motor suppplier

I am a total newbie to the neon world and I have a 95 neon sport m/t. I currently have a cracked block so i am looking for a clean, low mileage, motor to replace it. Anyone know of a place I could get something like that? Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. are there any simple swap options or should I just replace with the same as stock?

You can probally pick up a junkyard motor and have it bored for around $750. A crate motor for around $2000. A 2.4L Ebay motor for around $750. what route do you wanna go?

Just remember that there are very minor differences with the '95 SOHC block (main bearings) and head (PCV setup and cam). But you can put any of the '95-'02 Neon 2.0L's (super easy, even the DOHC or Magnum), the cloud car/Caravan 2.4L's (a bit of work), or the non-turbo PT Cruiser (a bit of work) engines in there.

www.car-parts.com is an online salvage yard database. If you can find an engine near you, go in and check it out. You probably won't need to go have it bored out, even if it's been sitting. Maybe just pull the pistons/rods and hone the cylinders, and stick the stockers back in with new rings. But most probably don't even need that much "work".

Best of luck!

p.s. what about wiring on a newer motor into this car. Is it plug and play or is there alot to change on the wiring harness?

That is a interesting question - is the Harness easily swapped out?

Just be leary of you will be changing more then just the harness as most of the sensors has a different adaptor throught the different year Neons.

This past weekend I notice on my 96 and 99 Neon - I had to cut my sensor connectors off and install new pig tail to connect up to the new Crank Sensor, Cam Sensor, and Coil Pack.
