Default Dual Exhaust?

I was planning on changing my 97 Sohc Neon into a dual exhaust with 2 short aftermarket 3" outlet mufflers.... I know theres a "r/t" muffer dual exhaust but im looking to have a better sound then just tips and i was wondering..if splitting the pipe into 2. would it be a successful sound or would it just be weak because of the split from a single to dual exhaust.

My pacesetter is one pipe till the muffler then it splits. I can't see why you could not use 2 mufflers if you wanted. I assume you are going to hang 2 fart cans on there.

2 mufflers on a 4 cyl isn't needed and a waste of money if you ask me.

It's a looks thing... Two mufflers on a rotary aren't needed either. Camaro's have had the fake dual exhaust for years. I just think it's funny how many people really think that adding a muffler makes the car a true dual exhaust, or that dual exhaust means more power/flow... I've seen a 4-cylinder BMW with a true dual setup (4 into 2 into x-pipe into 2), but that's a lot of work for bragging rights...

^^^I can understand the dual pipe look, but no need to put 2 mufflers on there. I bought the crappy pacestter exhuast, before I knoew what a piece of crap it was, for the dual look.
