i want to turbocharge my 1997 Dodge Neon 2.0 L DOHC 4-Door Automatic. I want a turbo that can beat the srt-4. Most turbos I've seen are for manuals. I HAVE AN AUTOMATIC. i need to know where i can buy one. I know i need other stuff installed with the turbo in order for it to work properly. So i need to know where to get those too. if you can help THANKS!

There is no such thing as a ATX turbo or a MTX turbo, they are all the same. I would suggest the chill factory turbo kit.

 

Your auto wont beat an SRT-4. Get a manual.

 

You won't beat an SRT-4 with just a turbo and that automatic. Hahn racecraft makes a intercooled turbo kit for $3000, but again you won't beat an SRT with the auto.

Last I heard, they were not taking any new orders, because they are backed up on old orders. People have been waiting 6-12 months for parts.

 

ok. well how about a srt-4 swap... engine and transmission. that's possible right.

ok, breaking it down. i really want to beat:

GTI
rsx type-s
all integras [i know that rsx is the "new" integra]
celica gt and gts

**all had modifications done**

 

It's possible, but you need some serious know-how to pull it off. The engine drops in with the regulat neon tranny and thats what most people do. The tranny fits, but requires additonal modification like dropping in the engine would be.

You don't need a turbo to beat those cars depending on what mods they actually have done to their car. You seem real energetic and enthusiastic about modding your neon, but it takes time and money. If you want to really race your car, you have to decide on a few things:1) Do I want to go all motor or forced induction? 2)Do I want to race an auto or MTX? 3)How much do I want to spend?

My advice would be get an MTX, the Auto is just a waste of time.

As far as beating all Integras, the Type R is a car thats out of your leage, even with turbo.

 

An ATX can actually be faster than a MTX on a turbo neon if you build the ATX. There is less turbo lag with the ATX since there are only 3 gears instead of 5.

 

But im right about the Type-R, he wont beat one with a turbo.

 

Why, how much HP are they putting out?
