How to program keyless remote for `99 Ply Neon Highline?
I did a search on this but couldn't find anything... can anyone please tell me how to program a keyless entry remote for my `99 Neon Highline? I need to get a second remote for my wife.
Hopefully someone here has been through this and is willing to save me the trouble of buying instructions or paying the dealer.
Thanks,
Kris W.

Bump? Can't anyone help me here?
Orderd the transmitter online from a dealer, they have said they will try to give me the instructions. I have a feeling I'll have to call them back and the instructions won't be in the box. Can't anyone help?
The reset procedure for our long-gone `95 F*#d Explorer was as follows:
1.) Hold all transmitters near car.
2.) Insert key in ignition
3.) turn on and off six times
4.) transmitters are now programmed.
Any ideas on the Neon procedure?
Thanks,
Kris W.

1. ENTER YOUR CAR AND CLOSE ALL DOORS
2. PUT ON YOUR SEAT BELT SO THE SEAT BELT BUZZER DOES'T CONFUSE YOU WITH THE CHIMING YOU WANT TO HEAR
3. PLACE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION
4. TURN THE KEY TO THE ON POSITION BUT DO NOT START
5. PRESS AND HOLD THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE KEY FOB
6. HOLD THE UNLOCK BUTTON FOR 4 SEC. NOW ALSO HOLD THE PANIC BUTTON
7. RELEASE BOTH BUTTONS AND A SINGLE CHIME WILL BE HEARD THIS INDICATION THAT YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY ENTERED PROGRAM MODE. ALL FOBS THAT ARE TO BE PROGRAMMED MUST BE DONE SO WITHIN 30 SEC. OF WHEN THE CHIME WAS HEARD.
8. USING THE FOB TO BE PROGRAMMED PRESS AND RELEASE BOTH THE LOCK AND UNLOCK BUTTONS, SIMULTANEOUSLY.
9. A SINGLE CHIME WILL BE HEARD
10. WITHIN FOUR SECONDS OF HEARING THE CHIME PRESS AND RELEASE EITHER THE LOCK OR UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE FOB.
11. REPEAT STEPS 8 - 10 TO PROGRAM UP TO TWO ADDITIONAL FOBS.
12. YOU WILL REMAIN IN PROGRAM MODE UP TO 30 SEC FROM WHEN THE ORIGINAL CHIME WAS HEARD. AFTER 30 SEC. ALL PROGRAMMED FOBS FUNCTION NORMALLY.

I tried this and it doesn't appear to work, however, I am not certain the new key fob I was sent is the correct one. I will post back if this is the case.
My functional transmitter which came with the car is P/N 04686366 and the new P/N is 05014736 AA. The FCC ID is similar on these units (GQ43VT7T on old and GQ43VT9T on new). On ebay an aftermarket company sells transmitters and only the GQ43 part is important, apparently.

Just learned I have to have the same type of (square) remote for it to work. Thanks everyone! At least the programming instructions are still useful!!!

i have never found any way other than paying the dealer if you only have one key. if you have two programmed keys and are adding a third then no problem. Only one key adding another then you have to pay for it. I would love to know if there is a way around it. TIP- the programming only takes about 2 minutes from start to finish. A dealer will probably try and charge you a full hour of labor. You can try to talk them into half hour with some luck and if you ask nicely. Or if you have a good looking girlfriend she could ask.
