sorta pissed...unsure why i have such crappy luck
Well Ive had my neon for a month to date yesterday, put about 1600 miles on it... I got it from a used car dealership and it came with a 3 month 3000 mile drivetrain warranty. This past week I have noticed the transmission having trouble shifting into second and third gear (its a A/T), I checked the trans fluid and its slightly brown but doesnt really smell burnt.. The weird thing is that it doesnt do it all the time and doesnt do it at all if I accelerate hard, only when I am really easy on it. I am afraid that the trans is going out and that a flush/filter change wont do it...tho it might help. I am hoping the place holds their end of the warranty and rebuilds/replaces it. My Shadow did this same thing aswell as my buddies 99 neon did right before the trans went out. Anyone else ever have this type of a problem? If so what was the fix?
im noticing when im "easy" on the gas in mine it shifts akwardly but when im rippin on it, it doesnt have any problem switching gears, ive had mine rebuilt cause i was dumb and did 3 neutral drops and it ripped up first gear. get the transmission checked out by a atx transmission shop and give the dealership the quote. mine rebuilt was $1200 with a 1 year 10,000mile warrenty. get it checked out. good luck!
I'm gonna let the dealership do it... I know how to do the filter/fuild change but feel if there is a problem and its under warranty they can take care of it. What all is involved in tightening the kickdown cable? how do you know where to set it?
let them know your concerns at the dealership. and if they dont want to work with you, rip the **** out of the transmission for the next 1000 miles, so if somethin is going to go wrong... it will while its under warranty
edit: if you need, i have a buddy in PA who could destroy that transmission in a second... he has gone through many already
