Default 2000 Neon Base

Alright, so my buddy is going to get a 2000 Neon Base model for a graduation present. Its automatic with 87k miles on it. I need some input as to how these cars are. Any and all input is greatly appreciated!! Thank you

Default RE: 2000 Neon Base

decent cars, so long as they were well maintained. the lack of options on the base model means there is just less stuff to break. would def. reccomend if it hasnt been done recently or if no proof of it being done is available to do the majors, (oil, trans, coolant, plugs & wires, fuel filter, etc, etc). the car isnt super fast... automatic 2.0 is nothing more than a turd. but it will be a good point a to point b car. plus they are pretty tossable, fun to drive cars.

speaking of maintenence, if they have a reciept from jiffylube showing that maintenence was supposedly done, do it again... reference: https://dodgeforum.com/m_473041/mpag.../tm.htm#473120

edit: BTW, a 00 neon would be a 2nd gen, not 1st.

edit again, dang: also, you may want to very gently flush out the engine, given it has quite a few miles and you dont really know the maintenence history, there is sure to be some 'junk' in it
