Default fuel gage

ok, my fuel gage works on for about 140 kms. i fill it up, and by 140kms the gas light is on and the gage says empty. i'm thinking it might be the fuel pump. if anyone has any advice, or has had the same or similar problem please let me knoe. thanks.

Check the solder points on the cluster first since its easier, top of this forum...if not, it's probably your fuel pump sending unit.

My fuel level sender went by the 100k mile point. Fairly common on 1st gens in particular. No need to replace the entire fuel pump just because of the fuel level sending unit. There's a how-to out there on how to fix it, but I haven't seen it (or looked for it) in quite a while... Been meaning to get to it, just waiting for my stock fuel pump to finally let go... been carrying around a spare in the trunk for the last 60k miles... you'd think it would give up by 240k, wouldn't ya?...

I'll look again for the how-to. It was part of a DIY turbo install. Maybe Owen's from years ago? Spoolboy maybe?
