96 oil leak

Default 96 oil leak

bought in 96 new..had a recall on head gasket..........had it fixed...still leaks........was told it was because they didnt change the bolts ?......( stretched?)........anyone hear of this ?bbb

I thought the head gasket kit came with new head bolts? Anyway the head bolts are called torque to yeild. They get torqued to a specification that actually stretches the bolt slightly to gain maxmimum clamping power. They are good for one use only. Look at this as an opportunity to install a header since the head should come off again.

Headgasket should have been replaced with an MLS headgasket and the bolts SHOULD NOT be reused.
