So i have my cam in, and my car is running oook, but it still wont start right away, ive asked around and people tell me to advance or retard my timing (i dont rember which) some say get a new computer, others say change the cam sensor, WHAT DO I BELIEVE!?!?!

 

My friend has a 96 SOHC MTX Neon that he put a 95 SOHC Cam into. He is having the same problem, he has to turn it over 2 or 3 times before it actually starts. Info here would be great!

 

when i have some time im gunna pop the cam sensor out and check it out again, then reset the computer, and put it back together and see what happens. Anyone have any other ideas?

 

OK problem solved! Well i dont know if it will fix your friends problem but it fixed mine... So the cam i got off of my friend didnt have the magnetic piece in it that the sensor senses... So i got the piece off of my old cam, and put it in, reset the computer, and she starts right up! I hope this helpes your friends neon, Good luck!

P.S. Ya it was kind of a dumb thing but i didnt put the sensor back on when i put the cam in, my friend did.
