sounds like a short, or a bad fusable link someplace. start by looking over the wires by your throttle body to see if any are rubbed through and grounding out. then check aroud the coil pack. what type of eng/trans you got?

Hi ...

First off, I am not an expert!
So my suggestion below is purely based on 1 prior experience. so YMMV :0)

My G.F car had a similar problem. I have attached the link below for you to read in detail as I have listed the "symptoms" at length. (Click the link for Neon Stalling Issue below)

Here are a list of things you may want to try out.
(1) Transmission Fluid.
Check if the fluid is low. If it is check your Owner's manual to find the correct Transmission fluid.
If I remember right, Gen (1) uses Mopar ATF+3. Gen(2) uses Mopar ATF +4.
Hopefully this will be it (coz this is the cheapest resolution).

(2) Next off, you may want to have the spark plugs and spark wires checked or changed.

(3) If that also doesn't work, it might be the Head Gasket and seals. This is a little pricey (I think).

Please review my post where some of the experts had also given some additional suggestions.
Neon Stalling Issue.

Good luck!

eng/trans means engine and tranmission. do you have a stick shift or auto? the "2" on the top of your eng is the size: 2.0 liters of diplacement. do you have 1 camshaft [sohc (Single OverHead Camshaft)] or 2 [dohc (double OverHead Camshaft)]? remove your oil cap and look for the shaft/s that run left to right under the vale cover, they look kind of lumpy. hope the fluid thing works out, if not let us know!!

look at the VIN tag on the dash, if it has a "c" in about the middle it is a sohc, i think a "y" is a dohc.
