How can i tell if my engine is dohc or sohc

all it says is 2.0 litter 16 valve

Take off the timing belt cover, 2 cams=DOHC, 1 cam=SOHC. Some people say look at the hood or muffler, but those can easily be swapped out.

you can tell by just looking at the timeing cover, the DOHC is much wider and all but one neon I have been under the hood of have said right on the valve coverSOHC or DOHC

none of the 2.0 dohc motors i have had ever said it on the valve cover....if it does say, then it would be on the air intake tube, if its a 97 or newer, maybe they started that in 98, i dont remember
