this might be a dumb question
that sucks to have to pull the upper intake off just to replace them, I was at a friends shop 3 weeks ago and he was working on this cadilac and for some reason who ever built the motor decided that the upper intake ( i think that was the spot, it was the the spot dead in the middle of the motor but you had to remove something to get to it) was a good place to put the starter, it could have went into the front of the engine but the exhaust mani left no room for it.
caddy nothstar v-8's DO have the starter in the valley below the in-take. at the time the theory went like this: since the starter is SOO close to the header, that MUST be why they don't last forever. not a bad thought in my mind, but makes for a PAIN to change. no labor/part thought process in that one. don't even think about leaking headers...maaaaawahaa.ha..ha. it's good to have stock in the starter Co i guess.
