i dont think the stereo system would cause your car to be slow as hell, id check elsewhere for other problems, only reason you would need 2 batteries is if you were running way more power than you have and killing the battery with the car running, then youd also need a higher output alt.

i used to have a stereo in my neon that consisted of a pioneer deh-p9300 head unit, 2-500 watt orion extreme amps(for interior speakers: 2 audiobahn 6x9's, audiobahn 6.5 in. component set with 1 inch tweeters, and audiobahn 3.5in. dash speakers) and 1-2400 watt audiobahn amp, pushing 4 audiobahn 1206 flame-Q 12's and the audiobahn amp was running at 1/4 ohm....stock alternator, and farm and fleet battery....loudest stereo you would hear in the trunk of a neon, and only made the car stumble when the bass hit really hard

bosh platnium 4
Don't know about the battery problem, but those platinums will cause your car to run like crap.

Yeah, change those spark plugs to the stock ones and it will most likely change it up a bit.

platinum plugs made my race neon run like total ***, el cheapo champion plugs run just fine, my race car is a 96 sport DOHC with a 98 r/t 5 speed, (used to be automatic) has the original plug wires, (85,000 miles of use plus half a race season of abuse), new champion plugs about 200 laps ago- 2 1/2 straight pipe comes out in front of the left rear wheel, K&N filter in the stock airbox, 100% original and stock and it runs great, were not allowed any mods in that race class at all, so i run what i got and i find evry last little bit of power i can, normal plugs ran teh best, if you have the steel fuel tank, change the fuel filter, and check the pressure - these things are bad about weak fuel pumps, they will run, but start hard and run weak - lose those damn overpriced spark plugs, set the gap on champions at .035" and stay away from 87 octane, give that a shot see what you come up with

racerx55 and das2123 are absolutely correct.

The Bosch Platinum plugs are absolute crap. I got free sets for my Beretta Z26 and it ran like absolute crap. Went back to the el cheapos and it ran fine. I'd change them out asap. I dont know why people associate the word Platinum with better quality. Check your fuel filter....but also check your air filter and have your fuel injection cleaned out. Those 3 things alone can help fuel efficiency and also may correct your problem possibly.

Your system doesnt push out nowhere near anything warranting a second battery. I ran a 1200w amp, two 10" subs, and a 250 watt headunit on a stock alternator/battery setup. If your concerned with power loss due to a sound system....you can always upgrade the alternator to a higher amp one. They make heavy duty alternators. I used to have a car with a secondary battery for my sound system....and let me put it like this....I was pushing 4000w...and 2 12" Vega Strokers....you arent even coming close to needing the battery power I needed.

They do work well with some cars, just not the waste spark ignition that the neon has. My wife's 2000 sebring requires platinums for longevity, becasue they are a PITA to replace. You have to pull of the upper intake manifold to get to them.

Hehehe, you did take a look at the car in my signature right? I have to do the exact same thing to change my plugs too! [:@]
