OK, My 1997 neon has everything else finally fixed.

now I have a sound coming from my transmission.

This sound only starts after I pass aproximately 45 kph (28 mph)
it is not related to shifting. It will start no matter what gear I am in.
The gear does not effect the pitch

The sound will not go away until I stop
Then It will not come back unless I pass 45kph again

it sounds like a squealing or whistling.

I did a tranny service. It is still there.

I found some minute traces of bronze or copper.

The transmission works great and has 142 000 kms on it (88000 miles)

I had it to my mechanic. He looked it all over checked the fluids and said.
"If it was mine. I would just keep driving it. There are no symptoms of any problems other than the sound."

"It will cost more to try to find the problem and fix it than it is worth."
I value his opinion. He is a good mechanic. I do much of my own work and he seems to be right 90% of the time.

Any suggestions here?

 

my neon, 85,000 miles, the trans started to squeal/whine / buzz, louder at higher RPM even in neutral, got louder as it got hotter, and spit chunks of brass into the pan, my suggestion is run it till it blows then get another for cheap
