Default fuel pump fuse blown

Ongoing problem, 96 Neon shuts down when the fuel pump fuse blows. I put a circuit breaker checker in place of the fuse and it would get very hot prior to shutting down. Searching the board I saw many with the same prob. All the grounds seem to have good contact. All sensors seem fine. Would the crank sensor cause the fuse line to get that hot? Any definitive way to check the fuel pump. Any advice appreciated.

Blown fuses=bad grounds. Check grounds and wiring again.

My O2 sensor got burned and the wires fried. That ended up blowing my fuel pump fuse. I just spliced the wires back together, changed the fuse and I was off and running. Hope it helps.
