Hey guys my little brother just bought a 1998 Neon SOHC, Automatic with 132000 miles. There are some problems with it though, i am about 99% sure it has a pretty bad oil leak, and the rear brakes squeel just terribly, also there is an electrical problem with the left blinker it is sometimes really fast and sometimes normal speed. Well the car sat for nine months in a shed. [8D] Any ideas of what may cause the blinker to act so strange?

when the blinker goes faster than norm it's cause of low resistance in the circut (norm a blown bulb). try pulling the bulbs on the left side and look for rust. i have a 96 that sat for a year before i got it, same problem, went away after changing bulbs. might also be bad or rusty contacts in the flasher relay or blinker switch.
can you tell were the oil is comming from? valve cover gasket is pretty easy to change out. good luck.

my sisters Neon used to have that blinker problem. and it wasn't the bulb (even though 90% of the time it is the bulb) but what i did (since changing the bulbs didn't work) , i took out the left side light assembly and i turned on the blinker and i relized that some how the connectors from the harness to the turn signal bulb somehow lost one of its clips which caused it to sag a little bit resulting in not making full contact. so all i did was take some duck tape and rolled it into thin little strips and then i just packed them on the bottom side of the connectors until it made full contact and its been working fine ever since. but as shadowman said check the bulbs first.
