Replacing the instrument panel with another
Hey guys,
first of all, thanx for looking, i just found this forum yesterday and i have been reading alot of topics, and they are all quite helpful
this is my first post in a car forum, so please bare with me, i am not in the least bit car savvy, so please dumb it down for me
, however i am eager to learn and appreciate any criticism, thanx
okay, so i drive a 96 dodge neon, SOHC, Standard 5 speed
now as you probably know, the neons dont come with a tachometer... i desperately want a tachometer, because i really have no idea how high i am revving.
now i really dont want one of those external tachometers (i COULD deal with one, but i would much rather an indsah one)
so what i am asking is do they make an instrument panel that i could install to my neon that incorporates that too, so it would show everything it currently has + a tach?
also where would i go to get one? and if i did get one would i have to get a new circuit board?
thanx in advance

Some neons do come with a tach. Find a used one, swap in your odometer and pop it in. They are plug and play on the neons. The pic below is a stock tach with the indiglo gauges.

das2123 ir right, it is very easy to swap the instrument cluster. The top-most portion of the dash pops up (it's held in by clips) and you just unscrew the cluster and pull it out. (I replaced the cluster on my Neon when the spedo stopped working. At the time, I could not find instructions on how to repair it. It was only after I installed the new cluster that I discovered how easy it is to repair the failed speedo!) You do not need to worry about any wiring. The wiring for the tach is already there. You just need to install the replacement cluster in the reverse order that you removed the original.
