Default Neon Gauges

My gauges have not worked in my 97' Dodge Neon for a long time, recently i replaced my battery and noticed there was a red wire that was connected to the positive side of my battery, well the connector was broken so i replaced it, my gauges worked fine but....... i just finished changing my spark plugs, when i accidently hit the wire and borke the connector again, i changed it but this time i did it with the car running there were a few sparks and now the gauges are not working, can somebody tell me what happened? also if I hit the dash, the gauges work sometimes.......well some of them?

sounds like you need to take apart your dash, get at the guage pod and open it up, re-solder the connections on the back of the guages.. Timely, but relateivly easy.. I think there is a post around this forum about it.. Good luck!

I really know nothing about that stuff, do you think it would be easier to get a new gauge assembly, how much would that cost?

sounds like you poped the fuse for the gauges.

if you did it with the car running and saw sparks I would say you shorted it out
