Default SOHC Block?

My car is originally DOHC, I need a new engine...an SOHC seem to b cheaper so I'm wonderin if I could get a SOHC engine an throw my DOHC heads on it. do I need to change anything? I heard I would have to do a few things to make it work...

if your going to do that just get a 2.0L block and install all your components from the dohc on it both the sohc and the dohc share the same block.

I've called TONS of places around here...nobody sells only the block. they all told me I had to buy the whole engine assembly.

junkyard would be your best bet.

The pistons are slightly diffrent on the DOHC though. They have some little pockets in them. I heard if you use the sohc pistons with a dohc head your compression goes in the crapper.

Where do you live? I do have a sohc block sitting on a stand that I might be looking to part with.

is that it? jus the pistons? cause I wanted new pistons anyway.
my old engine had 95 000 on it...I dunno how the guy screwed it up. needed new rod bearings. when I got it to the machinist he showed me the pistons...tol me I would need to bored out the cylinders. all the pistons was scratched up on the skirt. I also needed new oil pump, an crankshaft. which altogether would cost me 1800. which I dun wanna spend on a new engine. so if I could jus get a block an get new internals....I dunno =(
