90 K miles on our 98 Neon!!!!!
Hello People....
We have reached that magic number!
My G/F 98 Neon hit 90,000 miles today on the odometer!! Yay!
Isn't that like a huge miles stone in the Neon's life?
I did NOT get the manual when I bought this car at >67,000 miles on September 2004.
So I thought I shall you folks what you had to do when their Neon's reached 90K. I know that there is a service maintenance that needs to be done.
Does any one know what all this entails?
What parts are going to be cleaned, replaced, serviced etc for this 90K mile service?
What should I know when I walk into the local Mechanic' place?
How much would this cost? We estimated $350 and saved the last couple of months for this.
Where would you do it - at the nearest Dodge dealer?
Or something like Meineke or Midas etc ?
Anything that I should be aware of going into it.
Thanks in advance!

RE: 90 K miles on our 98 Neon!!!!!
Alot of your answers can be found in the forums if you search for it.
I know for a fact that you will need to change the timing belt, water pump and tensioner pulley at 100k miles. Other than that, maybe a good tune up, check the coil pack, change the oil, check all the other fluids and other routine things should be done. But the major is the timing belt and such, if one of those go, your looking at ALOT of money to have it fixed >.<
Hope this helps!

RE: 90 K miles on our 98 Neon!!!!!
some of your parts are coming to the point where they will need replaced, some of the stuff you can do before the recomended time if you would like. your timing belt will need to be changed out at 100,000 miles, at your point you might want to think about changing your headgasket out, especially if you don't have the MLS gasket, next could be the water pump, take a look at your suspension and get an idea of what shape its in, new tranny filter and fluid, then just some of the basics, plugs and wires, new oil and filter ( new valve cover gasket if you notice some oil around that area as well as the plug gaskets ), and a radiator flush, hope some of that was helpfull and good luck

Appreciate your replies!
NeonCrazy101: Yes. The head Gasket was replaced 3 - 4 of months back when the car was having another problem.
NeonRT98.: My old car - the model - looks like the one shown against your id. (different color) Thank you for that list. I can probably call up a mechanic and see how much they are going to charge and if their 90 K service includes all of those.
FuzzRacer.: Thanks for your response. But I must say your list was scary .. It is a very long list. For a second there, I almost had a heart attack.
On a slightly humorous note, I would think if all of those were changed, it is almost like getting a new car
Hopefully after the service, our Neon will perform like a champ!
Thanks for the response.
You guys ROCK!
cheers!
