the way i understand it (might be wrong) this code pops up when the torque converter (TC) lock-up solenoid don't work.

the solenoid locks the TC to prevent normal slippage resulting in better fuel economy. this feature was added in the mid/early 80's to most autos. the tranny might run a bit hotter than norm because of the extra slippage. shouldn't be a prob if your cooling sys is up to par and you don't dog the motor. might be just a loose/bad wire too. good luck.

It could also be park/neutral switch failure.

TC's not locking up is the number one reason auto's fail. It will heat up beyond all belief. Its there for 3rd gear to lock up and prevent slippage at cruising speed (where your car is at most of the time) so if it is not locking up at all your transmission will over heat and burn the fluid. That will in turn clog important cooling ports and valves and its time for a new transmission.

^^^That's why tranny coolers are great, cheap insurance for auto's!

I made one for my truck. Its got a 700r4 (its a chevy) and it doesnt like my 35's too much. So I am using the air conditioning condensor from my neon as the new cooler.

I will have to bypass it for winter however because that transmission will not be happy being that cold.

Ok Thanks alot guys. Now I need to fix it I'll tell you all excatly what its doing and tell me what I need to get? When I start to take off sometimes it will rev and then take off real hard all of the sudden like it isn't even in gear. When I'm driveing and it starts to shift, It will do the same thing. I put more tranny fluid in it and it helps for a day or so then back to where it kept revving like it wasn't in gear. So that would be which part, and if possible could you give me like a part number from autozone or something?? Thanks so much!!

It's not an "easy" job because the tranny needs to be seperated from the motor to get the torque converter on and then bolted back up tp the motor.
