Short ram will do nothing but bring in more air. Warm air that is.. a *good* Cold Air Intake (CAI) will bring in more *COOL* air which will cause better combustion, and also depending on how you drive it will give you better gas mileage too... or power when you need it. The CAI of choice here is ICEMAN.. you you can make your own "ghetto" intake too.. do some research on the forums with the search tool!

you can also make one without it being ghetto, just run the pipe any where away from the motor and especially the exhaust....you could just experiment a little until you find a good way to do it.....mine took a little time but works out great

The CAI from neons make no sense. Cold air is better then hot air, but for some reason the intake sits right above the header/down pipe. so the intake is just sucking in all of the extrmely hot air in. makes no sense. so you would be better off making the intake sit below the battery. i guess you could say i made a "ghetto" one but really its not. i used the cold air pipe ( the pipe that connects to the shortram part) off a 92 accord, and i got a 90 degree elbow piece. i mounted the elbow onto the throttle body and the took the part from the accord and made it go down under the battery. i did have to remove some of the battery tray but not that much. the piece i cut didnt need to be there anyway. but ya that is what i did on my 95' neon and it works awesome. or if you want to get even more room you could relocate the battery. its alittle more work, but very worth it.

Those are not CAI's THEN, that's just what eBay sellers call them!

Even the AEM intake just calls it an intake as opposed to a Cold Air Intake.

Yep, it's called an Iceman intake. They went out of business though, so the only way to find one is a used one. I have a buddy who is selling a blue one for $160 shipped. The pic below is mine, but just so you can see what it looks like.
