Default common sources of coolant leak?

My 97 SOHC neon started leaking lots, and I mean lots of coolant. The bottom of engine (oil pan) has drops of coolant hanging on it. What places shoud i check?

Does it overheat any? it might be if your losing that much coolant. try checking some of the hoses, could be running it's way down to drip off, could be the water pump going out on you too.

the most comon places that coolant will leak outta is the two main radiator hoses, the radiator core itself, the water pump/gasket, and the metal coolant lines that go from the water pump to the heater core(<thats where mines leaking from now)

Mine blew a leak like that, it was the water pump (again). check all the hoses and lines and if they all check out, start tearing it apart. Has the waterpump ever been changed?

I remember when mine went out, I had this huge puddle of antifreeze under my car, it wouldn't leak out untill I had the car stopped and turned off though and that wasn't really a leak. it poured out so i had to always carry some water ( didn't use antifreeze because it was the summer and why waste money if it's just gonna come right out ) till I got it fixed a couple of days later. before I had it fixed I tried some sealant but all that did was smell funny.

if it is the water pump dont drive it. You are not flowing any water around the motor. That is the quickest way to wreck stuff. If you blow out all the water and you put in new cold water while that head is still wicked hot, it will crack. Park it until its fixed... bottom line.

yeah true and if you crack the head its gona cost you some money to have it milled and everything else that has to be done, after the the first time mine poured out I bought some sealant stuff within an hour from wallmart I think it was pretesone. then I filled up a Hawian punch jug at there outdoor section and headed home to try the fix, I let it set in and took it for a spin around the block, it seemed like it worked untill the next day it started doing it again so I had to park for 2 days till I drove it to the mechanic, I would have gotten it fixed sooner but it was a friday after 5pm and my usuall mechanic was closed. the only one open was sunoco and they wanted like 500 dollars to do it.
