Default another engine question sry...

what was special about the Magnum SOHC? like was the head just different? or was the compression different? or both? probably both right? and would the head from the Magnum fit just a normal first gen. block? and would a DOHC out of like a 98 or something just slide into a 95? or would there have to be some mods to the motor mounts and such?

i dont know about the magnum......butthe dohc mounts are the same....nothing needs to be modded....but if you go the dohc route, you will probally need the pistons too.....the dohc pistons have little seats ontop of them for the valves...sohc does not

well what i'm thinking is when the time comes (hopefully next year...kinda lol) is just swapping either a SOHC Magnum or the more cost efficient DOHC into it... and maybe a transmission out of an R/T...not sure about the tranny though...

if you do the dohc, then you will also need the exhaust manifold, timing belt, and maybe the tensioner pulley(but i dont remember)
as for the trans.....you wouldnt need the r/t one specifically, but just one out of a dohc.....its the same.....and its kinda difficult to find one out of an actual r/t, unless you get a new one or unless there is one around you.....it took me 3 years to find one without goin half-way across the country......but the one i found was a 4 hour drive for me.....but i wanted one that came out of an actual r/t

yea...i'm not 2 sure about the R/T tranny...but since u said that they were kinda hard to find... i might just stick with my stock tranny.... but replacing the clutch again though... this one i have now sucks and its only 8,000 miles old...

The Magnum engine has a more agressive cam and longer runners for low end torque.

The DOHC swap is an easier swap with more potential power.

It would be cheaper and you don't have to hunt for extra parts and whatnot.

ive check so many times for an r/t in junk yards within atleast 100 miles of here and cant find any.....the one i found was junked because it cought on fire.....from the looks of it, the fuel line under the hood cought.....burnt up the passenger side of the engine compartment, and the passenger side interior......sumone alredy took the rims, struts, sway bars, brake assemblies, fog lights, back window, spoiler, taillights, headlights, and the back doors(4-door) by the time i got to it.....they had me wait 2 monthes until i could get it due to rainy season flooding....and i also got the trunk lid, sunroof motor, and rear bumper cover while i was at it.....total spent 150.00........
