My thought is any part purchased for the drivetrain, suspension or brake system either installed or upgraded to enhance HP, handling or braking even if no gain is acheived. Body "decor" is not a bolt on in my book. Factory replacement parts I wouldnt consider a "bolt-on" either. I consider that regular maintinance.

To me, it's anything you do outside the engine. Taking apart the head and upgrading cams, valves, and whatnot are not bolt-ons.

i'm with DAS, it just external stuff. pop off the old and bolt on the new. no major work involved, just time well spent.

hm, turbo I would say that it would be bolt on for these reasons: one mainly being you actually have to bolt it on. some turbos require ( or would just be a good insurance of an Idea) to change the internals to handle the power. im going from the bolt on instant power point of view, other then that you have to run lines and what not. so if you had to actual change then internals id say no to the turbo being a bolt on but, if no internal changes are needed then yeah its a bolt on

I wouldnt classify a turbo as a bolt on. You gotta change the guts for it.

but you dont have to change the internals....unless you wanna be safer....but if the boost is low then you dont need to upgrade
a turbo doesnt REQUIRE any internal mods

I could consider a turbo a bolt-on for that same reason, but you do have to modiy the fuel system a bit. So, I guess you could consider it a UPPER LEVEL bolt-on or something like that.

i guess this could go a little too deep....if it wanted too....like, what exactly needs to be BOLTED on with the fuel system????

oh well i was just curious.....but then basically a bolt on would be your basic first mods......or the usual upgrades???
