Default help please....

I recently purchased a 95 SOHC 5spd neon and well the cat converter is gone and so is the header lol so what im wondering is, is there anyway to bypass the catalytic converter so I dont have to mess around with buying it and an O2 sensor????
prolly a dumb question, but was curious

good deal if it came with a header, you could mean the exhaust mani which a lot of people confuse with header but still if it did come with it then its sad that its in bad shape. you have a couple of options, since you exhaust mani is probably cracked and is leaking making that annoying noise you could replace it with a long tube header, I say this one because it would take care of your cat problem as well ( depending on how long the long tube header is you might still need to get the cat gone). you could also just by the O2 sensor eliminator for your downstream one, that way your car wont throw the cat code. if you mani is bad enough to replaced you might also take care of that with short header, and another option would to just remove the cat and put in a pipe. you can buy those made for the neon so no bending would be needed and come with a bung hole. you could go different ways on that one. if my mani was bad and the cat was, Id opt for the long tube header and kill 2 birds with one stone hope some of that was helpful and good luck

i havent gotten the engine out yet, but i dont think the manifold is bad....i hope not anyway. so if i go with the long pipe, then my car will still be saying that cat code and the service engine light will always be on wont it? I dont want that. So i think i might get the header, and idk what the heck to do from there lol i forgot what you posted sorry. so the header then what would i go for to put the o2 elimanator on???? just a pipe??? sorry dont know much. want to thought. SCHOOL ME PLEASE!?!?!?!

you don't have to have the engine out to see if you mani is bad, you can do it from the top and bottom, just have to listen for a leaks and feel for air kinda sounds like when you put a card in a bicycle wheel, what ever route you choose, the O2 eliminator will trick the PCM into thinking that there is actually a O2 sensor there and that it is running good, that would get rid of your cat code. before making a performance decision ask yourself where you want to go with it, how much time I have to put into this project, and how much money do I have before buying parts. with thought it will all come together. but for future refference the long tube header is preffered vs the short tube header by a lot of people, gives a little more HP due to its design ( better flow) like I said before you can go a couple different ways, just depends on what's best for you. I was just tired of banging all of the honeycomb out of my cat, that plus I had a leak at where the the cat hooks up to the rest of the exhaust, ( not the mani part) it comes out easy so I decided to put in the hi flow in there took 20 mins and worked out great.
