Default fuel pump sender?

i drive a 96. my gas guage reads empty almost all the time. when i fill up it shows full for a little bit but is on empty by the time i get anywhere. after reading some of the posts from people with similar problems i think i need to replace the fuel pum sender. is this something that i can replace myself? if so, where can i find instructions on how to do it?
thanks, snunicycler

It's part of the fuel pump module, so you will need to remove it. I'd suggest getting a Haynes or Chilton's manual to help you out.

you have to drop the tank to get to it, or cut a hole in the trunk. unless it's a REAL pisser, use the trip o-meter. just my 2 cents.

Spend the extra money now and replace the whole module instead of just the sending unit..A lot of work to have to do it again if the pump fails

If he decides to go that route, I'd suggest the Walbro pump since it would be alot cheaper.

on this same topic, my low fuel light doesnt come on ever. fuel guage works, all the other lights in my dash work, just not that one. The airbag light goes on at random sometimes too..

I've heard ppl suggest to use 101 Octane fuel. cause wat happens is that small particles jus stick to the part where the floater tells the sendin unit wat the level is. an the 101 fuel cleans it off. not speakin from experience tho...I've jus heard ppl advise that.
