Starter Installation?
Hey guys, I'm looking to buy an 98 neon off of my uncle. THe only problem (we think) is with the starter (car currently wont start, and was wheezing prior to its failure.) I'm quasi-tech savvy, and have doen some work on my current honda civic. So my question is, could I install a new starter myself? How long does the job take to do at home? How lolng if i took it to a shop? Any help is appreciated, especially a write up. Thanks

Yes, you can change the starter pretty easily at home. Best bet would to be drain out the coolant, remove the radiator, then take out the battery and battery box. Allows of easier access.. then just swap em out. Good luck!
just to make sure, would a wheezing noise indicate that a new starter is needed? I know that its hard to tell without hearing what it was doing, but it would wheeze, then start for a while, but now it doesent even attempt to start.
does the intake manifold have to come off? or can i do it w/o taking it off?
