97 Dodge Jumps
Hi im new to the forum and am having trouble with my neon. When i get it up to about 45 it jumps really bad. We tried to hook it up to the computer and found that the fuel pump fuse was blown. It has blown 3 times since we changed it. We know it might be a wiring problem but i need a diagram of the wiring for my mechanic who is really my dad.
If anyone can help me find that or at least put me in contact with exactly what i need that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Post: Fuel Pump Fuse(spud style)
Edit: go down to about post 19 spud found out it was his 02 sensor some wires touching an what not try that out
just about every sensor in the engine bay is in some way connected through the fuel pump fuse.....and yeah, with mine two of the wires on the downstream 02 sensor had bare wires showing and were touching eachother.....that was the problem.......separated the wires and wrapped them in electrical tape and problem was solved....
on my red r/t the fuse kept blowing and it was because the power wire for the pump that runs under the carpet was pinched and then broke......sumtimes it worked sumtimes it didnt.....ends up when it worked, the wires made just enough contact....but when it didnt work it was because the wires moved apart.....usually when i got out of the car......does your car have the problem when not moving????.....if not then it is gonna be a little harder to find the problem because you cant unplug everything and retry.....your best bet then would be to look for loose wires hanging sumwhere.....it could go out because when you hit that speed, it becomes a bumpy ride and starts moving the wires more....or....the wind might blow it just enough to move it.....
or maybe even the pump is goin bad and once you get up there in spped and rpm's, the pump cant keep up with the motor...
point is, there are alot of possible problems here.....maybe an easy fix, maybe difficult
good luck

Its really confusing. My car idles fine and can be driven in town and lower speed wonderfully too it isnt until i get it up to about 45 that is starts to do this. We are sure its a wire but i need to find a diagram so that i dont have to rip the entire car apart. If anyone has anything like that or knows where i can find one that would be great. Thanks in advance
best way to do it is to go out and get a HAYNES manual.....they have good wire diagras in there that should help out alot.....
i had all my interior ripped apart and all the wires inside the care torn apart and was checking them one by one...then i still couldnt find it...so i started unplugging stuff under the hood and tried it again after every time i unplugged sumthing.....ended up taking me about a week to find out it was the 02 sensor.....well, about 6 days inside the car lookin, and about 10 minuites under the hood....
but like i said, you cant really go the route i did with the sensors since your does it when you are driving.....not when the car is sitting....
i dont know if you said this alredy but, is you check engine light on????? that might give you a few hints where it might be

should get ahold of a pressure gage & check the fuel pressure.... if its good at idle, then drops at higher speeds bad, then change the filter if you have a steel tank and can change it... if you have a plastic tank its inside on the bottom of the pump / sending unit assy. - if that dont work , it could be the pump, considering the fuse was blown the fuel pump might be starting to lock up
or the wiring like the rest of the guys said

Thanks everyone for their help with this. We found that it was a wire that had fallen out of the wiring harness and had rubbed against the transaxel. It was arcing off of my alternator and was the wire going to my fuel pump and to my O2 sensor. Now i just need to fix the wiring harness since we got the wire all back togther. Thanks for all your advice it helped to find exactly what was wrong.
so the wire was only grounding once and a while when the wire would move around.....good job finding the problem...o2 sensors seem to be a common cause for the fuel pump fuse blowing
