I have an extra set of Rear Disc for my 99 Neon - bought them off Ebay
Does that include evrything though??? E-brake, calipers, brake lines, backing plates and such?

I've done the swap and found them in a junkyard(RARE) on an old 95 coupe

just curious... what isnt simple about drums? They have been around a hell of alot longer then disc brakes. They work just as good as discs and are super easy to swap out. You just need a spring tool, makes life simple.

Don't need a tool with the discs though. They are much easier to change than drums.

i dunno, i have never had any problems with my drum brakes.

It seems like more trouble to go through doing the swap then just changing the shoes on the drums the 3 or 4 times you will have to actually do it on drum brakes.

^^^Yeah, but they are ugly too

Besides its not that much work, like Spud said. Maybe 30 minutes per wheel and the weather is nice these days.

ill give you the ugly part, but i still stand by drum brakes. My buddy has a 49 chevy half ton with a big block in it pushing 500 hp and he is running drums all around with no stopping issues.

If you paint the drums they do look okay. Its all a prefrence thing I guess.

disc brakes are still better then drums.....either way
i wouldnt want alot of power behind wheels with drums....especially 4 wheel drums.....drums may not give alot of people stopping issues.....but anyone will notice a difference with disc brakes

Hi Das

It is suppose to be the whole assemble - I bought it off Ebay - it took the guy like 4 weeks to ship them to me. Once I got them, I had already changed my mind on working on the 2nd Neon for Rally Racing. I never open the boxes. The boxes are sitting in my Garage.

Its suppose to be a simple conversion as the Seller advertised support and that the kit would be complete to convert a Rear Drum Neon to Rear Disc.

I can crack open the boxes tonight and try to take inventory and will post it tonight.

In a way if you ask the question another way - why aren't drum brakes still around?? Especially if they are as good as you say Drum Brakes are!

Drum Brakes do not stop as good as disc brakes - One of my race Neon had drum brake and trail braking was almost impossible with Drum brakes - Drum Brakes are not as consistant. Once I converted over to Disc Brakes - my Trail Braking is alot smoother. Plus I do not notice as much Brake Fad after a few laps.

In my opinion - Drum Brakes are Cheap, and while perform the same function as Disc Brakes - Disc Brakes are better performance as it is important to be able to cool your brakes so you can use them again in the next turn.

Drum Brakes hold too much heat - while it is very easy to cool off Disc Brakes - especially in sanctioned racing events!
