If you never use the rear seat you can remove the seatbacks that fold down and build an enclosure there with the subs facing you to maximize the sound. It would also make a nice show piece and keep everyone from being able to use you and your car as transportation since you could only carry one passenger.
subs dont sound good facing you....thats why most people face them toward the back of the trunk.....facing back will give you more bass and you wount hear the speaker moving.....the closer the subs face to a solid point the better the hit is gonna be...in my durang i have the subs about 3 inches from the hatch.....it sounds so much better then with them against the back of the seat....
and incase you didnt know.....never use a bandpass in a car...espeially one as small as a neon....not saying that you were, but thats one of the biggest mistakes people do when they try and put subs in the seat opening....it may look cool, but in a sealed box they will be twice as loud as in a bandpass....just fyi

the reason its 'soo' much louder with the subs facing back instead of frowards is that in order to hear sound it has to make 1.5 cycles before u can hear it, so for a low fq which is a long sound wave it has to have that extra distance but if you want the subs facing in the car from the trunk a person would be better off doing a blowthrough sytle enclosure so the area pressurized is minimized, doin a pair or 15w`3s in my lil bros 96 atx soon as he gets his amp and with the blowthrough u can still keep your backseat in
