The neon tranny is a strong tranny but does need to be treated properly. You can manually shift an ATX, but you need to modify the valve body. In that same link, click on Trans and then look at the manual valve body section.

 

Well I called the transmission shop today. They said I have a stickey Govenor or a Stickey Valve Body. Which means tranny tear down. So i think I will look for another one. There not that hard to change.
