Default 1995 Dodge Neon Tranny Problems need HELP BADLY

I just bought a neon with tranny problems... I fell in love with them when i raced them at my local dirt track and i found one that was cheap. Turns out it has trannsmission problems. You put it in drive and go and it stays in 1st gear. It will come out of first into reverse neutral and park like normal but while in drive it wont shift up. I changed the tranny filter and used the recomended ATF +3 in it and it didnt do anything.. Is there someting I can do to it. Just let me know.
Thanks David Feeney

Here are your possible problems and possible solutions:

1. Hydraulic pressure too low----Check fluid pressure at ports
2. Valve body malfunction----Inspect valve body and repair
3. Low fluid level----Fill trans. to level
4. Incorrect gearshift linkage adjustment----Adjust gearshift linkage
5. Incorrect throttle linkage----Adjust throttle linkage
6. Governor support seal rings worn----Replace governor support seal rings
7. Worn reaction shaft support seal rings----Replace reaction shaft support seal rings
8. Governor malfunction----Inspect and repair governor
9. Kickdown band, servo or linkage malfunction----Inpsect and repair kickdown band, servo or linkage
10. Worn front clutch----Replace discs and seals at front clutch

i found my battery tray broken, and the battery leaned back onto the kickdown linkage and held it at WFO position, and my car wouldnt shift, check that out, the linkage gets rusty and sticks alot too
i changed evrything to 5 spd so i wouldnt have to deal with that mess anymore

when you let off the throttle after speeding up some does it come down to and idle like its in neutral , or does it hold back (keeps the engine RPM up with the speed)

I changed the tranny filter today to make sure there was no metal in my pan. A I took it for a drive and well I put it in drive and when it started to get to 50 i felt a bad vibe in the gas petal. So I got to a stop sign and put it into first gear and at about 35 i shifted into second and then into drive and it reved in drive like it was in neutral then i downshifted into second and there was nothing there and then i down shifted the last time into first again and it gave that kick like it downshifted into first. You know that kick when you get a caution(I always ran my neon in first under caution on the dirt track.)

why not? they put those gear selections there for a reason...
i think ihave my setup figured out pretty good, fastest qualifier once, 3 heats wins, led all but the last lap of another till i lost a tire, been finishing in the top 5 of the A main for the most part, i beat them going in the corner, just not out of the corner, and i beat them down the straight, pulling out of the corner my car has no torque to move its *** and i lose it every time unless the high groove is cleaned off and i can stay up high to keep up momentum and RPMs up above 5,000
ill try anything once - except what i know didnt work already

lol, thats why i dont own anything automatic, theyre junk no matter who makes them, and evry time you touch them somehow theres 35 quarts of trans fluid all over the floor and all over you yet they only hold 10 or less
