WIP pics of my front pillar tweeter pods
Nothing special, and the piece is nothing special either. I put about 2 hours work into both of them so far, but one is still curing with body filler. Heres a completed one before primer + paint + holes.
First pic is the component speaker that will be up front. 2x6.5 2x5.25 2x1" tweet and 2x0.80" tweet. These pods are for the 1" MB Quart tweeters, the sub box you barely see on the left side is the one I built for my Type R. almost 3cuft

First pic of the pod, didnt turn out so well, so next ones I moved to the table

Still has a few imperfections I will sand out when the other one is done curing

In the pic with the speakers, you can see the quart crossover box sitting next to the old ****ty box that everything is sitting on. And that is the driver side one in those pics. It mounts to the inside of the windshield, right next to the pillar in the front. (A-pillar??) and it can swivel about 70* either way, so if its too bright you can aim it towards the window, or more towards the other person in the front of the car. So just for kicks heres a few shots of the what the sub box looks like
Computer is still in the process of getting built, dc-dc psu coming tuesday, sound card friday, chip board and ram I got locally, and my lilliput should be here sometime next week I hope. Next pics you see after these little pods are the ones of the new dash piece where the double din used to be

a few amps
I just realized its friday the 13th, in october

the 2 scoshe amps will power the front mb quarts, the little golden sony on top will power the 5.25" components, the silver amp is connected to the sub, and the charcoal rockford will go mono to the 6x9's in the rear
edit: and that type R in that box managed to get 143.7db, louder than this guys's 2x10" type R in a sealed box with 100watts more power at 142.5, it only got 135.2db in that other little 1.2cuft box. Sounds much cleaner and crisper from this box too. Tuned at approx 40hz, wasnt quite exact on it, so its within 10% of that I think. Only run the sub to 50hz anyways

Well yeah I only need 3 amps but I couldnt pass it up, I got the 500w amp for free, the charcoal one is my old one I paid 150 new for way back when. The sony was 17 bucks (friend owed me money and offered that) and the 2 scosche's were 100 bucks (150 each new)
Each scosche will be line amped from a 2.8vrms sound card running left into input of 1amp and the right into input of the other amp. Each MBQuart will get 220w rms, and the other front "fill" components will get 75rms. Ill be giving it ~7V signal on one line and since im not using the other input and still bridging the amp itll be quieter than if I ran 2 lines to it, but itll be less likely to distort and at 7v I shouldnt input gain clip it... its gonna be a little trial and error getting everything tuned properly, but ive got an osci and a digi multimeter, so Ill just need some patience and a good test tone cd

440+150rms to the front, 100rms to each 6x9 and 500w rms to sub.

what the hell is a sound card???
what computer??? dc-dc psu???? chip board and ram????
an osciliscope(if thats what your talking about) and a digital multimeter arent gonna help you tune your system to sound good...what the hell ever happed to tuning by ear???
how do you know the watts the speakers are gonna get??? just from what the amp is rated at??? your speakers will distort before you get that far....
sounds like a bunch of ****....
with crap like that running through the car, no wonder you would need a bigger alternator.....with wireing like thats its a wonder you dont set the poor car on fire....
there is gonna be way to much wasted power running around in there....i bet it would sound better if you hooked the interior speakers up to the head unit and just used the fosgate power amp to the subs....i dont think ive ever seen a stereo as butched as that...except for young kids that want their first stereo so they can keep up with the big boys
god i wish i had a pic of my old system that was in my neon...too bad the computer crashed and took the pics with it[:@]
i gotta get outta this post before i puke and fall over laughing[&:]

lawl you moron its a carputer system, dc-dc power supply. sound card... outputs sound..?
Do you know anything about car audio? An oscilliscope is going to tell me when I start getting clipping, and a digital multimeter will be able to show me millivolts from the speaker outputs, so I can tell wheere to tune the line drivers gains to. edit: and it will also tell me where the amp is clipping. have you tuned a system before?
The amps do 220x1@4ohm, 110x2@2ohms and 80w2@4ohms. The 500w rockford is 250wx1 @4ohms 500wx1 @ 2ohms. 200w rockford is 100wx1 at 4ohm and 200wx1 at 2ohm. The xm250 unit is 250peak power, good for 75wx2 @ 4ohm and 150wx1 @ 2ohm (...sony...). I know the wattage because I can read what they are rated for.
Stereo is butched? Holy man im actually starting to not like you, you seem to have this attitude where everything is better when its yours. This system on less power won 2 provincial sound quality competitions, I havent run the amps at 220wx1 yet, nor have I used the line driver in there either, thats with an older audigy sound card with less rca voltage, without a line driver and without 5.25's or 6x9's. All I did was add more, all I have to do is tune it.
edit: and there is no head unit.. that was some good reading you did there

And its not wasting power, each amp for a set of speakers, 4 channel amps are harder to work with on a carputer anyways. Just split and line drive the channels, and now ive got 2.8vrms line output than the 0.5vrms from the audigy2zs
