suspension questions
Hello,
I'm new to the board and I drive a '96 base ATX neon. I've looked around for a while now and cannot find an answer to my questions so here thay are:
1. I'd like to lower it SLIGHTLY, maybe an 1", just enough to get the top of the tires parallel with wheel wells. I was considering the Mopar ACR/RT springs. As I understand it, these are stock springs, but the shortest springs they made. I hear that the earlier cars don't drop as much as the later, and considering the only options on my car are auto (sigh) and airconditioning, it probably won't be noticed. I was just wondering if anyone can confirm this that has tried it.
2. The main reason I considered these is that I'd like to change the suspension to RT specs. So if someone has a picture of the rear anti-roll I'd like to see it, since I need a bracket to put a bar on, but I'm not sure what the bracket looks like. (I'm scrounging through junkyards for one)
3. I also need new struts. On neons.org it says that the SDE (sport coupe/RT) struts are "stiffer", now obviously any junkyard struts will be shot just like mine, so does anyone know a good substitue?
thanks

RE: suspension questions
good substitute for the struts would be KYB GR2's.....they are inexpensive and perform well....
stock r/t struts are mcphersons....stock acr struts are koni's
i wasnt awary that the r/t's springs are shorter....as far as i knew just the struts were different
you will need the brackets for the sway bar that hold it to the car, and that hold it to the struts....if no one puts up a pic, then i will take a pic of mine tomorrow

Mopar High Rates give you about a 1" drop, but you will be lucky if you find any as they have been discontinued. You don't have tohave the R/T springs to get the roll bar.

5007001 ACR/RT level front 59.95
5007002 ACR/RT level rear 59.95
These are the springs I'm talking about. Somewhere I've read that for different equiptment levels, different spring heights were used instead of different rates. For example, a car with A/C would have more weight on the front, right side (I think it's the right) than a car w/out A/C. So to match the ride height, a taller (when unloaded), otherwise they are 150lbs. in. in front and 120 in back (ACR/RT and sport models) standard suspension is 140 and 120.
