Default My carputer specs

Since no one on here seems to know much about these, I think I am the first to build a carputer for a 1st gen neon... atleast around here. No pics yet because its not done, and my screen hasnt arrived, and I havent finished the screen mount in the dash (no screen to do it with ) but this is what weve got so far

Asrock k7s41gx motherboard
AMD Athlon xp 2600+ 333fsb
512mb kingston pc3200 ddr
Onboard video, 128mb at 400mhz core speed (should give about 50fps with 2x AA at 640x480 [480p high def resolution on 8" lilliput touchscreen])
AuzenTech X-Plosion 7.1 DTS Sound card
2x200gb western digital drives (will hold ALL my music, 320gb, about 38000songs worth, some in lossless .flac codec), will have tv shows (really into LOST right now) and whatever the hell else I will put in there. Video card should be good for almost half life 2 rendering. Probably have a hard time with that though
160w DC-DC PSU, 96w on 12V line (60 for cpu, 10 for each hdd, so should be sufficient power)
Stock AMD heatsink with regular thermal compound.
8" Lilliput 809GL touchscreen.

And yall have seen some pics of the stereo equipment im running (spudsterier im expecting some useless hatred from you in this thread). My tweeter pods for the windshield are pretty much done, need 1 more layer of paint + 2 holes for wires + clearcoat and done.

Thats all for now, should all be done by this time next week.

Oh and I got this keyboard

tiny eh? Will be good, because ill be using winamp, so you can load the WHOLE playlist (38k songs) and just do a search for whatever you wanna play

hehe u have the same processor as me...and i would switch out the heatsink... mine with open air and such ran at 60-63C... and with it being in a car and such would run higher and probably burn out...i got a $10 one off newegg and it cooled it by 10C...even more when i added the 120mm case fan...

hellll no yo!
haha, im quite the audiophile, ,I love listening to tom petty, roxette etc, like vocal stuff. Sounds really good. Every now and then ill admit ill crank the hip hop, but whatever

The chip ws running open air in my test setup (youll see the test pics soon too) at like 40-45C while installing windows. The chips are good for up to 85C or something, so im not too worried about it. My last system was an amd 3000+ with 768mb ram, ati 9250 video card and audigy 2 zs platinum running straight optical signal to a HT reciever powered by inverter, giving 90w rms to all channels plus independant processing, time delays and internal crossovers. It was pretty slick, but power hungry. mann. This is a better sound card and im running higher end equipment this time. Hope to win this years competition again

yep a regular cd player works just fine for me

you want some useless hatred???
no wonder you think neons are slow, with all that crap in there it would be....i would spend that money on performance rather then stereo......my sony cdx-m800 and stock speakers works just fine for me....

i wouldnt wate the money on all that, i like listening to my music, but not enough to put all that junk in there

i hope that car gets a wiring problem and catches on fire.....when no one is in it of course

is that better???

Your definitely not the 1st one to do this to a 1st gen neon. I know quite a few people who have done it.

Good luck with it though.

Check on cardomain.com for pics. That's where I have seen most carputer setups on neons.
