im bout to do a srt 4 swap in my 99 rt i need to know what all i need to do it right like what computer and all to use im planing on doing tons of motor work after i get it in the car and running and i would like to kno what is the best way to go

 

I'm in the middle of doing that swap right now,what a pain in the ***(I can say that here can't I).I would sudjest getting your engine as complete as poss from the start.I started with a short block and needed way more parts than I figured I would.You will need a custom made passanger side motor mount an alt mount from a pt cruiser + some spacers for ps pump.You will also need a new clutch,probably go to non modular setup,one that can handle 300+ hp & 325 lb ft torque at least.While your at it you might as well go with an aftermarket intercooler (larger)+ all custom pipes .I'm going with a stand alone engine management system (microtec) set up by a local shop on dyno.(about $2200) ouch I know but worth it if I want further mods later. All told I think I'm in for about $5000.00. Good luck There are other ways to do it cheaper,and lots of info out there

 

thanks for the info i was wondering about the stand alone engine management system if i would need one or not if i use one of them do i need to use the srt4 computer or can i use the one i got now do u kno any other things i would need other then the motor abd the motor mounts i know for the 2.4 motor not the srt4 one u need a bigger clutch i was going to go with a bigger intercooler im really worried about what i need to get it in the car to make it run

 

easiest parts list is a totalled srt4 that still runs

 

atleast then you wouldnt have to go shopping for sumthing that you might find out you need later

 

I think you will need the stock computor to get the guages to work.I've heard it's quite a chore to get the srt comp to work with 1st get car.I can let you know more when mine is done

 

Are you talking about using the stock 1st gen PCM??? No way will that work. You will need a NEW SRT-4 PCM.

I just said you would need a NEW SRT-4 PCM...stock or upgraded (doesn't matter). It has to be new because if was installed on the SRT-4 then it has seen sentry and won't work on the 1st gen neon.
