Last week my Neon wouldn't start. Nothing happen, the radio wouldn't work and it was basically out of power. I replaced with new battery. Started up fine. Started it today and when i turn the key i just hear a clicking sound.If it isn't the battery than what else could it be.

Also...:

1. The winshield wippers wipe slowly
2. the horn does seem to be working very well.
3. The lights are also dim for some reason?

I don't know whats wrong with it

 

sounds like the alternater isnt charging

 

Now with the new battery in it doesn't do anything. I read that maybe I should check the connection between the starter and the battery and clean them off or something. I don't know. Now when i cut the car on nothing happens. Even with the battery attached, nothing is going on.

 

as racer stated it kinda sounds like the alt. going or something...

 

I think Autozone will do a "alternator load test", that might help with determining if it's your alternator. If it passes the load test, it could be a problem between alternator and battery?

Edit: Windshields wipe slowly...since those are resistor-capacitor controlled, definitely electrical. Not enough juice, I can see why people would say alternator.

 

dim lights, slow wipers & turn signals, usually indicate low volts (dying battery from no alternator charging it)
thats just my guess, now that you made it home the batteryt is dead, and if you dont charge it up its gonna go completely dead just sitting there, if you can charge it, get it started and then check the voltage while running, if its not 13.8 or better (like 11 volts) your Alt isnt working

 

You have one of those devices that can charge car batteries while plugged into AC?

 

Double check your battery connections to make sure they are tight. Does it crank with a jump?
