Default have a serious problem now

i think i messed up my trans today.....
i was leaving a stop sign this afternoon and when i went to shift into 3rd the car stalled.....so when i stopped the car died....well, after examining it a little, the car seems to be stuck in 4th gear......
you can select 1,2,5,R...you can hear it lock into reverse, but no matter what the car is always in 4th gear....
i drove it home from where it messed up at which was about 7 miles....on the ride home, the clutch was slipping real bad(but it didnt help having to stop at stop signs and then start in 4th gear)....you could select all the gears when the clutch was in and the car moving, but it never changed gears and without the clutch in you couldnt slesct any gears.....and you could see/smell the clutch cooking real bad.....and when you let off the gas the whole engine/trans would clunk around and grind a bit.....

so i got the car into the garage and now it doesnt even move.....the clutch is gone...but i dont know whats goin on with the trans....
i need to find sum way to figure this out real quick.....

but, now the turbo is gonna go on within the next few days and the clutch should be here thursday......but now i might have to go and get another trans[:@]

Don't be ashamed, my dad did that to his '05 Nissan...he was about 7k miles away from being out of warranty. Didn't ask if it was the tranny or not.

There's a guy on the dot-org who's blown five transmissions in somewhat over a year, so don't worry about it.

But yeah, I think you're going to need a new clutch and/or tranny. Do you have metal bits in your fluid?

it doesnt matter that the trans went out.....i blew 3 out of my last r/t....
i am surprised that it lasted as long as it did it just sux that it is one more thing that has to get done...especially since i just sold the extra trans i had for it about 3 weeks ago[:@]

after spending 2 hours ripping apart the car i now only have the trans and basic motor left in the car....
the shifter bushings are good and you can selet all the gears except 4th....which is the gear its stuck in.....no matter what gear you put it in, its always in 4th......even in neutral, its still in 4th...

the clutch is gone since i had to drive it home in 4th.....so it doesnt work anymore....

i stopped at the junk yard and the guy has a sohc tranny from a 95 with only 30,000 miles on it for $200.00 so i think im gonna go and get that in a few days.....i might swap it in or use some of the parts from it to fix mine(which i would rather do)

i dont know about any metal shavings in the fluid, i just put it in the garage and started unbolting....tomorrow i will get the trans off and check....then swap the exhaust and bolt on the turbo(hopefully)

ive had transmissions blow to pieces.....but never one that did this.....bastard[:@]

sounds like the synchronizers are trashed, probably only the 4th gear synchros, but then they cause the others to mess themselves up...I would just swap in the tranny.

If it's a 3.55 tranny, then it would be better for your turbo project anyway
