Default cam and engine

i have a 97 sohc and i want to get a racing cam what do you suggest

i also wanted to know if i can put the v6 from a dodge caravan in my neon and how would you go about doing that

its possible but would be alot of work......

get a crane #12 or #14 cam for more go
unless you want just a little more power then get a stock cam from a 95

the mopar performance cam (stock 95 cam) was shown for a 4-6hp increase and is around $140

the crane cams are a lot bigger and probably show ever more of an increase and are $250

so it's up to you and how much money you're willing to spend

and if you get the crane cams you might as well start looking into porting your head/intake manifold

Is porting nessisary for the crane cams? cause im thinkin of getting one... i like the sounds mine makes... but i want a more dramatiic lobe sound...

you could find a 95 at a wrecker and get the came for probably 40 bucks, then spend the money on a cam gear. Thats a different way of spending the money, and a port match on that should be good for a decent amount of power

if i get a mild mopar performance cam, would it rase the smog numbers a lot or would i still be able to pass smog

the 95 cam is supposed to be a slight bit more aggressive....

dont know about smog though....but i think it would still pass

the 96-99 neon cams were i think around 7.4
the 95 i think is 7.9

and mine has passed smog every time i took it in
