Default An almost complete WIP shot of my custom inscreen dash piece

I just know spudsterier is gonan be in here. But please lets keep this thread clean.

Thats just black primer right now, still needs 1 more coat of it. Im going to get some "rock guard" paint, like a truck bed lining to paint over this, then go with a krylon dark grey-ish color to get as close to stock look as I can.

Hopefully everything will be done this weekend, this piece has taken alot of time already, and its not even perfect.

Its an 8" Lilliput 809GL that goes in there, thats actualyl the face plate for it, the screen is apart sitting over there ------->

edit: truck bed lining/rock guard to give it a stock-ish like texture look. I dont want it to be a solid flush color, it wont match the rest of the oem interior, so ive got some playing around to do

thats actually the front face off of the monitor, I disassembled it all and its the front frame for the lilliput. When I put it all back together it all screws into this face piece

Looks really good man. I hope to do something like that soon as well. Have you tested the viewing angle of the monitor yet?

The viewing angle I believe on this model is 50* vertical and 75* horizontal. Even if it was totalyl flat I would be able to see it without any dark distortion (if you have an lcd, look at wierd angles, youll see what I mean by dark distortion) the only reason I used any angle at all is so its easier to push the buttons. Yes I have tested it, it was actually tested flat (didnt know how much room I would have until I got to the shifter, its an auto) but theres about .75" from the bottom of it to the shifter (enough for fingers) and the angle is perfect of looking down because you dont even see that "upper lip", where it starts curving down is where you see the screen.

Theres a few imperfections, you perfectionists will notice the 2 upper corners of the face place were sanded a little too much and it isnt perfectly level, but thats okay, the screen has about 1mm extra space hidden underneith the cover so I checked it out and its fine
